Shooting will begin in April on what’s being billed as the world’s first 3-D erotic film, according to its producer
Stephen Shiu Jr., chairman of One Dollar Production, says 3D Sex and Zen will push the envelope content-wise while helping thwart piracy.

“Just imagine that you’ll be watching it as if you were sitting beside the bed,” he told the South China Morning Post. “There will be many close-ups. It will look as if the actresses are only a few centimeters from the audience.”
The porn move is only natural as filmmakers like DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg hail new 3-D technology as Hollywood’s savior. DreamWorks is producing all its upcoming animated movies in 3-D, starting with Monsters vs. Aliens, which is set for a March 27 release.

3D Sex and Zen, with a reported budget of $3.9 million, is a sequel to 1991’s Sex and Zen, which was based loosely on 17th-century Chinese book The Carnal Prayer Mat by Li Yu.

Do you really think that will help the industrie..?!

Play Cloths Spring

It’s hard to believe Play Cloths only launched in December ‘08, but the Clipse-owned brand has already been quickly well-received by street fashion elite. For their Spring ‘09 Collection, Play Cloths took out the scissors and pieced together a mature lineup of jackets, hooded sweatshirts, button-downs, and cardigans. As of now, we only have a taste, but stay tuned as we’ll provide a full look at the full collection in the weeks to come.

Young but already etablished line…nice!

The landmark Chemosphere home in the Hollywood Hills and its owner, publisher Benedikt Taschen, were profiled in a 2005 Home cover story. “What was great about Lautner is that he had this dualism about nature and the city,” Taschen said at the time, noting that one side of the house was “pure nature,” with skunks, bobcats, coyotes and deer, while the other side was “pure city,” the vast San Fernando Valley.

The career of the architect John Lautner (1911-1994) spanned more than six decades, yet he is little known outside the architecture world, even though his buildings have starred in movies like “Diamonds are Forever” and “Charlie’s Angels.” Man’s relationship to nature and the universe intrigued Lautner and informed his designs, from coffee shops to plans for endless cities. Unfolding from the hills, nestled in canyons, or hovering above city skylines, Lautner’s residential projects have had influence on some of today’s most important architects — Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid and Rem Koolhaas, among them.

Def. my favorite house so far…

Coming off an impressive showing at Germany’s Museum für Moderne Kunst, Takashi Murakami prepares for a pit stop at the Gagosian Gallery in the UK before the final showing of his retrospective tour at the renown Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain. While the Gagosian show will run concurrent to the Guggenheim exhibition, it will open a week earlier on February 10th, 2009. For the meantime, we get a preview of a piece from the upcoming show featuring Takashi’s “Time Bokan” with an original camouflage backing, much like the wallpaper featured at last years Brooklyn showing.

Once again Kaws’ Original Fake brand and Levi’s team up to collaborate on a new denim project. This time they worked on a pair of denim and matching denim jacket, both featuring the Kaws Chompers design on the pockets. Otherwise both pieces come in raw denim and with all the classic Levi’s details that you could wish for.

Both the denim and the jacket will soon be released at the Original Fake flagship store and premium retailers and will go for about 389 $ a piece.

Interesting but also a bit odd…

By Jo Cope

Jo Cope describes her work as conceptual garment and accessory design. This title is very befitting for her sometimes odd but alluring designs. Cope is based in England and graduated from the fashion program at Nottingham Trent University.

Included here are images of her graduation collection from 2006 and a series of her accessories. These accessories include jewellery, like the ‘non-collar’ unisex neckpiece and handbags which explore the interplay with the body like the ‘self-extension bag’.
